Decision Model Notation (DMN 1.0) Visio Stencils

Business Decisions” are the key “Decisions” in day-to-day business operations that the business deals with; and identification of these keys are the output of something called “Decision Analysis”. Such decisions are: “Should a customer be considered as high risk customer?”, “Is an applicant is eligible for an auto loan?”, and are common within business processes.

The most important part of Decision Analysis is to find out all Atomic Business Rules from a high level Business Decision. Major challenges involve identifying and derivation of those atomic business rules, input data, outputs, their scopes, types, relations, etc. that suites business understanding and requirement.

The concept of Decision Analysis is not new. Many experts perform their ground-breaking works over decades, carefully crafted them with collection of practices, experience, and combined them in different new ways of visual languages that prompts people to say, “Well of course. I could have thought of that!”.

At Feb 2014, Object Management Group, Inc. (OMG) has released their first “Decision Model and Notation” – DMN 1.0 Beta 1 (http://www.omg.org/spec/DMN/) after went through different initiatives.

Sharing my creation of DMN Visio 2010/2013 stencils based on the DMN 1.0 Beta 1 specification, and hope this will help you guys too.. :)
